TTI - For TG16-CD
Terraforming
Shooter | CD
Release: February 1994
turboscreen

Take flight through a variety of alien worlds on the long search to reach mankind's new home in Terraforming, an all-new side-scrolling shooter for the Turbo Duo. Traversing the Milky Way is a dangerous task, and on the way, you'll need to face hostile beings set on destroying all intruders. On the positive side, your ship's thrusters can function as a bonus back-fire onto enemies and your power-ups can wipe the entire screen of baddies. However, this game's graphics are bland and its core shooter gameplay has far better outings on the Turbo. Switch over to Lords of Thunder instead. Is TTI is losing its edge, or simply overstayed its welcome?

FTL - For TG16-CD
Theron's Quest
Role-Playing | CD
Release: September 1993
turboscreen

A rarer sight to see than Turbo fans would prefer, Dungeon Master: Theron's Quest is a localization of a Japan-only CD game (Seriously, the Japanese Turbo library is HUGE!). Originally released in autumn of '92, this dungeon crawler and puzzle explorer opens with a pretty, anime-style animated sequence which details the somewhat cookie-cutter plot: Find stolen treasures, redemption, etc. Thanks to an easy to use, icon-based interface, it's a breeze to control your party and swap out weapons and items. Theron's complex dungeons does not do much in the way of innovation, and this aged title is unlikely to persuade players to pick up a Duo.

Success - For TG16-CD
Cotton
Shooter | CD
Release: June 1993
turboscreen

A redheaded witch on a broomstick launching magical attacks on mutants, zombies, and dragons? No, you're not lost somewhere in Oz, you've made to the world of Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams available now on Turbo Duo. This is a console version of a Japanese-only arcade title, and the two versions seem to differ very little. Players take the role of Cotton, a young witch set out on a mission to defeat monsters and recollect her favored Willow candy. It's you versus the world in Cotton, since everything is trying to kill you! Her flight may be charming and colorful, but it sure ain't easy. Practice hard, it's addictive!

TTI - For TG16
Bonk 3
Action-Platformer | 8 MEG
Release: June 1993
turboscreen

From TTI comes the newest in the trilogy of games based on the supercharged caveman. On the positive side, Bonk 3 keeps the charm and fun of the original two titles on the Turbo, and TTI now includes 2-player support for some double trouble. Yet, this side-scrolling platformer ultimately does not take advantage of its 8-meg catridge - sporting stale backgrounds and 8-bit chip music. Its lack of stand-out features and unchanged cartoonish style leaves us wanting more. One wonders why Bonk was not awarded the same CD privileges of certain "Thunderous" wonders on the Duo.

Lords of Thunder
Shooter | CD
Release: March 1993
turboscreen

Air combat doesn't get much better than this! We're glad to say Lords of Thunder meets and exceeds the tower-high expectations set by its predecessor on the Turbo. Take on swarms of robotic aliens in this lightning quick shooter, using your skills to eliminate the enemies before they knock you out! This is a brutal shooter that will require a bit of power-up experimentation and re-playing, but there is plenty here to grab you along that journey.

WD - For TG16-CD
Exile
Role-Playing | CD
Release: December 1992
turboscreen

In the latest role-playing export from Japan, you'll play as Sadler, a Crusades-era veteran fighter called forth to rid the lands from the Masters of Evil. This CD title is a splendid RPG on the Turbo, matching or surpassing prior hits like Ys and Neutopia. It has great tunes and fair graphics for the aging console. If you love RPGs, try it!

Everything you'd expect a shiny CD-ROM RPG to have, this game has it in strides: High-quality music, spine-tingling battles, and more. The quest is worth your while, even if the plot may seem a touch drab at times. If you have the Turbo CD, this is a certain purchase for you.

Hudson/TTI - For TG16
Air Zonk
Shooter | 4 MEG
Release: November 1992
turboscreen

Imagine Bonk, but in the future as a side-scrolling shooter! This is a fun and somewhat light-hearted adventure featuring the cartoonish bad-boy Zonk (See the resemblance?) The player has a plethora of power-ups and companion characters at his disposal that are eye-catching to say the least. We're glad the Turbo is keeping a steady stream despite a rather slow year, and we expect much more coming your way!

Hudson - For TG16-CD
Gate of Thunder
Shooter | CD
Release: October 1993
turboscreen

If there ever was a game to entice a Turbo CD/TurboDuo purchase, this is it. Hudson's Gate of Thunder may just be the best shooter on the system. Plow through a tirade of enemy ships in your mission to stop a dastardly general's nefarious plan, and enjoy some rockin' tunes on the way! CD-quality cinematic cutscenes and music make this a stellar trip in space. Phenomenal and recommended by all of our reviewers.

turboscreen

Explore a fantastical terrain in this new role-playing game exclusive to TG16 consoles. Hudson Soft - For TG16
Soldier Blade
Shooter | 4 MEG
Release: September 1992
turboscreen

The Turbografx-16 lives up to its reputation as the home for stellar shooter games with the arrival of the arcade-like Soldier Blade. The gameplay is fast, exciting, and splendidly colorful. Some have cited its easy difficulty as a reason to grant it a demerit, but it remains a solid addition for any TG16 player to add to their catalog.
