Oh boy, a new Mega Man sequel! Six months following Sigma's destruction, the Blue Bomber must now take on the Maverick revolt led by its fearsome leaders: Sergens, Violen, and Agile. Capcom struck gold last year with Mega Man X on Super Nintendo, a finely tuned evolution of the oft-celebrated series once exclusive to the NES. Although just a short span of time has passed, X2 is here! Needless to say, if you liked the first game, you will appreciate the second even more. This action-packed adventure features impressive special-fx, lengthier and more populated levels, better music, and a longer journey overall. The inclusion of a special DSP chip called the C4 gives the game a major boost, allowing for some radical 3-D perspectives and rotating bosses.

Funky new tech like the C4 booster is always a treat, but the core gameplay is what matters most of all. Thankfully, Capcom hit the bullseye. Not only do players have excellent enemy designs and super fun boss battles to look forward to, but several new techniques join Mega Man's arsenal. Use the Double Charge Buster to add some serious flare to your attacks and try out the Item Tracer to discover hidden item locations! Best of all is the mid-air Dash ability. This tool allows our hero to skip through the air in the same vein as Sparkster, thus speeding up the pace to the nth degree. Not every stage exhibits an enthralling presentation. Bubble Crab's stage, for example, was a slog.
