Who Shall Be Crowned The Next Slime Winner?

smallslime Welcome to the Official PPM Slime of the Seasonsmallslime

Have you ever played a game so thoroughly rotten, so outright disgusting, and so downright despicable that you'd rather flush it down the toilet than plug it into your gaming console? Our team has dedicated this section of the mag exclusively for those nastiest of nasties. To them, we award our dishonorable Slime of the Season. There is no higher glory for electronic scum than being showcased as a Slime Award recipient.

Beast Wars on SONY PLAYSTATION

It pains us to say this as fans of the Transformers cartoons, but Beast Wars is the perfect demonstration in how not to produce a licensed tie-in. Developer Takara had every opportunity to work wonders with this property. C'mon, how do you screw up giant robot fights in 3-D? For the most part, this disc is not totally trash. You play as either the Maximals or the Predacons and work through a series of missions that typically result in activating switches and taking down a boss monster. Play control is a major problem with sloppy and imprecise movements plaguing your every move. Aligning your weapon's aim is made seemingly impossible. That alone ruins the fun of playing as a Transformer.

Enjoy the robot form while you can!

Huh? Jurassic Park, is that you?

Moprhing into a new entity is the basic foundation of the series. This feature is present in Beast Wars, yet the mechanic is horribly designed. You see, to fire your weapon, you must be the robotic form. But this form takes environmental damage for some contrived reason, forcing you to constantly swap back to the beast form. Even the marginally impressive transformation animation will grow stale after engaging with this irritating cycle. On the upside, the rugged, alien landscapes are faithful to the show, and fans will appreciate the abundance of characters from the series. But agonizing controls and disappointing gameplay make this a wholly forgettable letdown. You'll have more fun with the action figures.
